Frequently Asked Questions
How long have you been doing extensions? Can I trust you?: I've been doing extensions for 9 years and counting. I've been officially certified to do extensions for 5 years. I would have been certified sooner but I was too young to qualify. I've also been a licensed cosmetologist for 5 years. You can trust me ladies! I am straight up and honest. I will not tell you to go with the most expensive extensions because it'll make me money. I am completely honest and i'll tell you what i'd want my stylist to tell me. Clients usually become like family, and i'd never lie to family.
How much is it to get my extensions done?: Please look click the 'Prices' tab under "hair extensions" to see my prices compared to normal prices
How much is it to get my extensions done if I bring my own hair?: After looking at the prices in my blog, subtract 30 dollars from the lowest price if you have your own hair. Be sure to tell me you are bringing your own hair
How long do extensions last?: It depends on what type of extensions you get and how well you take care of them. Here is a brief breakdown:
Glue-In Wefts: 2-6 weeks
Clip-In Wefts: 1-3 months
Non Sewn Beaded: 3-6 months
Braided Sew-In Wefts: 3-6 months
Beaded Sew-In: 3-6 months
Individual Keratin: 3-6 months
Individual Micro-Beads: 3-6 months
What is the different between high qualities of hair and the other qualities?
For a more in depth answer click on "not sure what hair to get?" The high quality hair has been specially chosen by distributors as top of the line hair. It will last longer, it stays smoother, and it's easier to manage. The normal quality hair is still okay though, I use it on my hair and manage it just fine. Just be sure to brush it thoroughly every day
What is Remy hair?
Remy hair is just a fancy word for High Quality hair
What is Keratin?
Keratin is a protein glue specially formulated to do the least damage possible to the hair
What are Fusion Extensions?
Fusion extensions are another name for individual keratin extensions because the keratin bonds get fused to your natural hair.
How long does my natural hair have to be before I can get extensions?: i've done extensions on 3 inch long hair. as long as you have some hair to make it blend right, your hair can be pretty short. If you think it's too short, send me a picture and i'll let you know if I can do extensions for you.
If the Individual extensions last the same amount of time as the other extensions, why are they more expensive?: 1. Individual Keratin extensions take more time to put in. 2. As the hair grows out, Individual Keratin extensions are easier to deal with. For example putting it up in pony-tails ect.... 3. Individuals are what all of the movie stars have! ;)
How do you wash your hair with extensions?: The same way you wash your normal hair but in a downward motion to make sure you don't tangle the hair. do not bunch up the hair and lather. Be sure to be gentle when getting close to the scalp. Also do not get too much conditioner near the scalp since the oils in conditioner often loosen the extension glue. I recommend blow drying your roots after showering to ensure that the glue dries.. but do not use it on a high heat level because then you'll melt the glue ;) With track extensions you don't have to worry about any of that because they do not involve glue. I only recommend using the Milbon products sold in the salon for this type of hair.
What extensions are your favorite to use?: My favorite are the non sewn beaded weft extensions. They aren't damaging to the hair, they don't involve glue, and they're very easy to tighten. They do not involve glue so it's less hassle and less worry. And I'm a picker... meaning once i get my nails done, theyre all chipped away and picked at by the next day. When I have any type of glue-in extensions, I can't help but pick at them. I've also noticed they stay tighter than the beaded sew-ins which are my second favorite because I can pull on them and be rough with them but they will not come out!
Another favorite of mine are clip-in extensions. I do an amazing technique different from what you'll get in a normal salon that allows you to use your clip ins for 1-3 months.. or longer! I love them because i can take them out before I do to bed so they don't get messy, and put them back on in the morning. another great thing about them is I don't have to wash them as regularly as I do my natural hair. I can take them out before I get in the shower and put them back in after. This saves a lot of time when it comes to styling.
Don't they hurt?: It depends on what type of head you have. If you have a sensitive scalp, they might hurt for the first few days. Generally extensions do not hurt though.
I have Asian hair, what extensions are best for me?: I would recommend doing non sewn beaded wefts or clip in wefts. Normally Asian hair is slightly more oily and slick than other types of hair, so the individual keratin extensions will fall out easier since it's easier for the glue to slip off.
I've heard extensions will break my hair off: A lot of people have a misconception about this question because of the fact that you do see hair coming off when you remove your extensions. The hair coming off is hair that you naturally already shed that was stuck in the bead, braid, or glue that the extensions were applied with. You naturally shed 50-200 strands of hair a day, that hair has no where to go when there are extensions applied over it. This is why regular tightenings are so important, they involve removing knots and tangles caused by natural hair shedding.
How long will it take to put in my extensions?:
Clip-Ins: 1-1.5 hours
Non Sewn Beaded Wefts: 1-2 hours
Braided Sew-Ins: 1-2.5 hours
Beaded Sew-Ins: 1-2 hours
Individual Keratin Glue: 2-4 hours
Individual Micro-beads: 2-5 hours
What is your refund policy?: As of right now I do not do refunds or exchanges. If a refund/exchange is needed, I will deal with them on a case by case basis. I am all about working with you to get the best result, so it is unusual that a client needs a refund or exchange. However, if a refund or exchange is needed, please don't hesitate to let me know so I can work with you to fix any problems. Normally the only problems people have are with the type of hair, not the way they are applied. Choose the type of hair you get wisely before getting extensions because you don't want to find yourself wishing you would have gotten better hair once the not so good hair starts acting up.
